For Elena & Georgi

Hi ladies!  Welcome!  We're so glad you can join us for Kilroy Was Here!

These are your scenes:
1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31
(Mrs. Stuewer may have told you that already, but I thought it'd be nice for you to have everything in one place here.)

Songs:

There are some notes here regarding Don't Say No, Jitterbug Saturday Night, and Together We Must Stand.  I was encouraging cast members to write little notes in their scripts, so that's what this is about.

At the end of Don't Say No, the last note is in three part harmony.  The melody (soprano) is easy to hear on the Vocal Accompaniment CD, so I made a vocal video of the last line for the middle note (alto) here.  The alto for Together We Must Stand is in this same link, btw.  The tenor note (low note) for Don't Say No and Together We Must Stand can be found here.  You may choose which note (high, middle, low) you'd like to sing for these.  I think it's pretty balanced right now, so I don't think it matters what you choose.  Also, there is a Chorus 1 ("We are one") and Chorus 2 ("My country 'tis of thee") for Together We Must Stand.  Let me know which you'd rather do, okay?

There are several choreography videos for Don't Say No.  You might need to ask Lindsey or one of the hostesses to help you figure out which zone you're in.
Don't Say No to the USO Videos --this is one blog post with choreography.
These videos were made in Lindsey's basement.  They cover the musical interlude part of the song.  I think you're Zone 4, but check with Lindsey to be sure.
I don't think we have any videos for the last part of Don't Say No.  Sorry....

Here  is my weak attempt at choreography for Together We Must Stand.  ; )  I didn't do this right in the video, but your left hand should face backward (on "States"), so you can easily grab your neighbor's hand.  When it gets to the Chorus 1/Chorus 2 part, both of you will put your hands on your hearts.  The servicemen/women and the government agents are the only ones who'll salute.

You were there for the choreography for Jitterbug Saturday Night, so I won't link it here.  It's in the post before this one.  There aren't any vocal videos.  There are only the script notes in the very first link.

Slap That Jukebox vocals are here.  Towards the end of the song, we sing in four part harmony on the word "long".  Pick what you like.  We haven't done choreography for this one yet.  That'll happen on March 1st.

Never Gonna Give Up is likely our trickiest song.  It's in three part harmony; it's FAST; and it has lots of accidentals (notes which sound like they don't belong).  I made vocal videos for each part at half speed here.     I think we're going to work on these vocals a little more on the 16th, so if you could take time to choose which part you'd like (1st soprano, 2nd soprano, or alto) and work on it a little before Thursday, that'd be great.  Again, I think we're pretty balanced, so choose what you'd like.  Once you've learned the notes at half speed, then go here for the full speed version with the CD playing in the background.  Bailey & Bethany have graciously made these videos for me, since there's no way I can play that fast.  Yet.  ; )

Here is the choreography for Never Gonna Give Up.  You'll have to ask Maddi if you're a right person or left person.  My guess is that one of you will be right, and one of you will be wrong left.  (Sorry...bad joke.)

And here are the vocal videos for We'll Meet Again.  There's three part harmony on the last note, which you probably figured out from rehearsal on Thursday.  If you haven't picked a note already, then go ahead and do so now.  We don't have choreography for this one yet.  I think that'll happen on the 16th.

You'll also sing Hey, America, What's Cookin.  This one is all in unison, so I won't be making any videos.  The rhythms are a bit tricky though.  Just practice along with your vocal CD (assuming you have one).  We'll be working on this song on Feb. 23rd.

The Finale (Scene 31) is basically the same as Don't Say No, except it has a longer musical interlude plus "America" in the middle.  The Choral Finale (also in Scene 31) is the last bit of Together We Must Stand.

WHEW!  Okay.  I know that's a lot, but if anyone can do it, you can.  If you have any questions, just let me know.

Thank-you so very much Mrs. Green. I'll try to get everything figured out and in place before next Thursday.

It's so great to be back with all of you....There was something big missing in my life...like that three hour practice once a week that took me away from my school work...and then the "big week" of performances. I'm very happy that I'm going to be apart of it once again. :'-)
It's great to see all of the new faces!

hey Lindsay...if you get to this before I call you...What Zone am I in for Don't Say No...?

Of course, I don't expect you both to get all caught up in one week. Start by preparing for February 16th. (Do you have the schedule?) The "Add'l work on songs" will be "Slap That Jukebox" and "Never Gonna Give Up", so start with those vocals. We'll also go through the last part of "We'll Meet Again" as part of Warm-ups.

Since you're not in Scenes 25 & 26, maybe you could have the other hostesses work with you on dance steps from 12:15-1:30 on Thursday. (Lindsey is in those scenes, btw, so she'll be busy.)

Elena - It's great to have you back! We missed you, too! I'll have a folder and a few papers for you at the next play practice.

As far as the schedule for the 16th, we will be doing scenes 27 & 28 at the same time as 25 & 26. So, we'll need you during that time slot.

Mrs. Green - Thank you, thank you! What a helpful post you put together for Elena & Georgi!

Whoops! I didn't notice that 25 & 26 were at the same time as 27 & 28. Sorry about that.

I checked with Lindsey, and you both *are* Zone 4 for Don't Say No.

Thank-you for the notifications...just a reminder...I will also need a CD.

I have decided on the name Josephine Garnet. If there are any problems just let me know.

I think that's all for now...see y'all on Thursday!

Nice to have y'all on board! Yes, yes, you are in zone 4 and I'll try to catch you girls whenever I can to help you learn the dance,(I have spots picked out for you!) but the videos should help you pretty well. Let me know if you have any questions.

As for Miss Charli, she is in zone 1 and can follow Bailey in the video for zone 1's instramental part. I'll also try to cath her and see if she knows the dance when I get a minute at play practice or dance class. Oh, and Mrs. Steuwer, what's Charli's tiny tapper name?

Elena - Ooh, Josephine Garnet. I like that. Thanks for the reminder about the CD! I would have forgotten.

Lindsey - Charli will be Taffy Tapper!
