There’s this guy from my church named Tom.
Tom was a Marine who served in Vietnam. When I was thinking about local vets we would
be honoring, Tom was who I thought about most often. He called me a few times before Kilroy, because he wanted to be sure he wouldn’t miss it. My husband had more extensive discussions
with him about the play and about Tom’s service in general, including a long
talk on a bench in Walmart about USO clubs stateside as well as USO shows in
Vietnam. Maddi also remembers having a lengthy
chat with him at church about the USO, and about how much he was looking
forward to the show.
Tom came to the Friday night show and he LOVED it. He probably visited with some of you in the
receiving line – he may have called you ‘Hon’.
Lindsey, he called you a traitor.

My husband had another nice talk with him a couple weeks
ago, and Tom reiterated how much he liked the play.
I found out this evening that Tom died in a car accident on
Tuesday.
Tom was a great guy who loved serving Jesus and who loved
serving his country. He had a strong
faith, and is with his Savior right now.
I’m happy for Tom, but I’m going to miss him.
I’m profoundly thankful to each one of you for working so
hard and putting on such a great show for all of the vets, but especially for
Tom.

Wow. I remember Tom! That's so weird how you can meet someone in passing and have absolutely no idea about their lives. Thank you for posting this so we appreciate Tom and honor his life.
Wow. If the show added some joy and delight to this man and others who selflessly served in the military, loved their country and God, then I am thankful. Thankful for the opportunity to bless others and thankful for our veterans.
I was going to start off with "Wow," but apparently everybody else had the same idea too. I'm so glad that our play had a meaning to it that impacted so many people in our community, especially Tom. He sounds like an amazing man.
Wow! It's great that he got to be honored before he died. So happy I got to be a part of the play this year!!!
