Things To Work On At Tuesday's Rehearsal

I’m so pleased with how everyone performed on Thursday!!!  Great job.

Here are a few things I’d like to work on at next Tuesday’s rehearsal

I’d like to try to get you to move a little more to the front of the stage when you’re at the USO and one of the central speakers at the moment.  For example, if you’re one of the Taylor sisters or one of the riveters and you’re speaking to each other, move forward more.  Same thing for the g-men, female agents, Kilroy, military guys, etc.  We’ll get some tape on the floor  in the next few rehearsals to help you with your positioning.

I’d also like to try to get you all moved forward on the stage, if there’s a central person or people talking to the group.  In that case, we’d need one or two clusters of people to move forward so the central people aren’t out there on their own.  Right now, I’m thinking specifically of the scene at the end where Kilroy explains about the spies, etc.  He’ll move forward, and the riveters will follow him.  Everyone else on stage should be listening to him as well and reacting to what he’s saying.
I’m also thinking of the hypnotism scene, although to be honest, I can’t remember exactly how far forward we have the chairs.  We can put them right up to, or even past the green curtain line.  Everyone else can move forward more to watch.

In the scene where Kilroy has returned from being held captive and is explaining to the g-men what happened, let’s move you 5 guys in front of the stage right table, but in an upright knee position, with Kilroy farthest stage right.  That way, the audience can see what’s going on with you, but you won’t be blocking the rest of the scene.  We’ll need to time it so that you’re back in position between the 2 tables, so you can pull out your guns from there.

During the Spies song – There are a couple of times when the g-men & agents set down the papers and pick them up.  It would look neater to have you coordinate this action to all be at the same time, and all be doing the same thing.  Maybe that’s something you can work on during off time at Tuesday’s rehearsal.

I probably will be making the changes to the Veterans Tribute that were suggested at the end of rehearsal.  I just need to read through the script and see it in my head before I can write it down.  I’ll put up another post after I’ve done that.

G-men & gov. agent girls. I talked to you about your magazines or newspapers during the spies song. Try to put them in your pocket or belt. I think that would be easier and look better than throwing them on the floor.

Here are a couple of places where lines were stepped on.
*Scene 5 pg 8. Ruth Jack, Fred, & Kilroy each have a line before you introduce the hotesses.
*Scene 23 pg 41, Ruth Fred, Marion, Rita, & Boys have lines before you say your line before the song "Never Gonna Give Up".
*Scene 28 pg 49:Rachel before you say 'Almost time for our weekly broadcast.' Judy, Hazel, Fred,& Jack have lines.
*Scene 30 top of pg 54. Ruth, Marion, Fred, & Rita have lines before Kitty says: 'I've never danced better'.

I give kudos to all of you for a good job overall on Thursday! Keep up the good work.
