I just wanted to be sure I told you what a fantastic job you guys a doing overall. You're learning your lines, mastering complicated dance steps and the songs sound awesome! You're working hard, and it shows. The show is coming together so nicely - I think you're really going to wow the audiences! Thanks for all of your effort!
Also, Harmony Brothers - please bring your harmonicas to practice this week and we'll get you practicing. Actually, bring your harmonicas every week, just in case we're able to find time for you to practice.

I've written a backslash ( / ) everywhere I'd like for you to take a breath. The red circle-slash with a B inside means: NO BREATH. Where there is a blue circle with BB inside, that means: BIG BREATH. Of course, you may always sneak breaths when you need to. I don't want anyone fainting on me!
Bailey, you can do your own phrasing. Your solo is quite different from the rest of the song.
The last word ("you") breaks out into three part harmony. We're actually going to be singing six different notes since some of the guys will be singing an octave below the others. It's going to sound full and rich and be-yoo-tiful! I can't wait!
So, here are six videos. The first three are the high, middle, and low notes in the regular octave (for the ladies and younger boys whose voices may not have changed yet). The second set of three are the high, middle, and low notes played an octave lower for our manly men. I've also included the Guys' solo, "And I promise someday, I'll come home to stay," in the second set of videos.
(The Harmony Brothers will not be singing that line since they're too young to be servicemen. Michael, I'll give you the choice of whether you'd like to sing that line or not.)

Mrs. Holbrook will be teaching you some dance steps for the trumpet solo part of the song, but you should be ready to perform the rest of it. You can find the videos for the Government Agents here, and the Spies video is here.
Mrs. Holbrook might not need you for the entire 70 minutes. If there's any time left over, then you're mine. (Mwah-ha-ha-ha....) Please practice your vocal parts for "Spies" so we can put the whole song together with the Instrumental CD on Thursday. (We haven't done that yet.) You can find your parts here. After you've brushed up on your notes, please go over your part--once with the Vocal CD and then follow with the Instrumental CD--on three different days before rehearsal. That would be fanTAStic. It would only take you 15 minutes (tops) each time. Thank you.

I am tickled PINK at how well the vocals went for "Never Gonna Give Up" today! Again, a sincere thank you to Bailey and Bethany for helping to teach those tricky vocals--and a shout out to Hannah B, Sarah B, Emma, and anyone else who learned their parts ahead of time. Thank you.
Maddi! The choreography was such fun today! The dance steps totally fit the spirit of the song. Great job. = )

Never Gonna Give Up--Full Speed with CD
Mrs. Green asked Bethany and me (Bailey) to create videos of "Never Gonna Give Up" played at its normal speed with the instrumental accompaniment. Ignore our poor rhythm and finger bloopers: we're not aspiring to be concert pianists.
Sopranos! This is the highest part. While in our humble opinions it is the easiest part to master, this is the worst quality video. Sorry!
Second Sopranos! You're a little lower than regular soprano -- the "middle part." Bethany would like to encourage you to disregard the mess-ups at the end. The rest is mostly accurate.
Last but not least, Altos. I'd encourage as many ladies as possible to sing this part, since it means you'll be singing with me. There's no blooper warning for this video, though I'm sure I goof up somewhere.

Never Gonna Give Up Vocals--Slowed Down
This post is for ALL of the ladies (except Tiny Tappers).
The above video is for all of you to watch, no matter which part you'd like to sing. If it's helpful for you to write notes in your script, then go grab it--and a pencil. If you don't want to write in your script, then please still watch the video. It'll save time on Thursday if you know this information ahead of time. Thanks. (Sorry about the wiggly camera. I had a horrible cinematographer.)
The following videos are the different vocal parts for "Never Gonna Give Up". I'm playing them at half speed--partly so you can hear each note, and partly because I'm not that great of a pianist. Bailey and/or Bethany are going to help me out by playing each part at full speed with the Demo CD going in the background. (They're much better pianists than I.) I hope to get those posted some time next week, if their schedules allow. Please watch these with your script in hand (pages 41-42). Sing along as best as you can. I may not have the rhythms totally perfect since I'm playing it much slower than the CD tempo. The CD rhythms are correct.
Have your 1st and 2nd choice ready for Thursday.
Above, is the high part (1st soprano), but I messed up at the end of the song, so the video below is the last bit of it.
Sorry about the two videos thing. Someday I'll learn how to edit them together. ; )

The following is a blooper. I think it was, like, "Take 47" or something. I'm posting it just to show you that practice makes better (and sometimes even perfect). ; ) I want you to take comfort in the fact that if you're having trouble with a part, then just keep at it. Ask for help if you need to. You'll get it.
Feel free to laugh while you watch. After all, you'll be laughing with me, not at me. (I can take it.)
