If you've come here looking for the "Handle with Care" vocal video, then...thank you! I appreciate you checking! However, I've decided it will work better to just hammer it out on Thursday after warm-up time. If we still need a video after that, I'll make one then. If you have time between now and rehearsal, please look over your words for this song. (Sailors, you have the bulk of the lyrics, so you have the biggest job here.)
"Thomas" singers--specifically the workers who have single solo lines--I'm going to make those into duets/trios because we still can't hear some of you very well. If we can't hear you at Bethany, then we certainly won't be able to hear you in that large auditorium. (We are trying to use only floor microphones and the hanging microphones at CHS--no lapel mikes.) BUT, if you *would* like to hang on to your solo line(s), and we can hear you, then you may keep it/them. Please let me know at this Thursday's practice (2/28) if you'd like to stay solo. Thank you. ~ Mrs. Green

Schedule Change Reminder
Hi Guys -
Just a reminder that we're switching the schedule for February 28 and March 7. On February 28, we'll be doing Scenes 14A & 14B. I'd also like to add Scene 15 (we've already done most of it anyway) to February 28.
Regarding 14B: The original script called for the factory workers to be carrying in plates and to break the plates in the fight scene. I thought it would be too messy, so I changed it to sticks. Cheryl has since convinced me that the plates would be doable, so we're back to them.
Evan - change your line on page 61 from "Hand you my resignation - on a stick" to "Hand you my resignation - on a plate"
Also, the Contessa and her Translator will be making a reappearance in 14B. Angela and Elizabeth: I touched base with either one of you or your mom about this earlier, but I would like to add a line for each of you in this scene. I want to be sure to discuss this with you at rehearsal on 2/21. (Elizabeth - you may have told me your character's name, but I forgot.)
On March 7, we'll be doing Handle with Care choreography, as well as the rest of scene 9. While that is being worked on, the rest of us will start on running through the show from the start. If there's time after Handle With Care choreography, we'll review Scenes 14A & 14B.
On March 14, we'll start out with a review of Handle with Care, then any other scenes that we feel need review. Then, we'll continue running through the show.
We'll continue running through the show on March 21. We need to be in good shape for when we get to the theater on March 28 (WooHoo!). The background details (set changes, lighting, etc.) will be more complicated this year, so we need to minimize as many other glitches as we can.
65 Days Until Opening Night!!!! It's going to be great!!!

Some Reminders
Just a reminder - if you are going to be absent, please let us know. You may phone or text me, if you'd like. I don't want to post my phone number on the blog, but I will send it in a separate email.
Everyone - please be sure to look over the dances that are posted. Mrs. Green does an awesome job of filming and posting these dances, and they are very helpful. For anyone who's been absent, it is expected that you will look over the videos of any of your dances we went over while you were gone. I understand it's difficult to pick up everything just from watching the videos, but please familiarize yourself with them as much as possible.
Also, any student who is at practice is expected to participate in warm-ups, regardless of whether or not you are in a scene that day. Mrs. Green teaches techniques which help to strengthen your vocal chords, which in turn will improve your overall performance.
Starting February 21, everyone is expected to be at each practice, even if you aren't in a scheduled scene (unless you have an excused absence). We need to be able to use any extra time to go over scenes, songs and dances, and to be able to pull you in as needed.
That's it for now. Overall, you guys are doing a great job! It's so exciting seeing you when you're in your costumes! I know this is going to be an awesome show!!

Drink a Cuppa Choreography ~ Partial Song
We only worked on this song's choreography for a little while yesterday. So far, this is the chorus with Juli, Ethan, and Maddi's part. (Thanks, Georgi, for standing in for Juli!)
Great job teaching, Angela & Elizabeth! I'm looking forward to seeing the rest! ~ Mrs. Green

Now It Falls Choreography
Hi Ladies!
This isn't the best angle. Sorry. I just wanted to get everyone in. We could do a retape if you'd like. ~ Mrs. Green

All You Need Is Cash ~ Vocal Video
This one's for Nick, Evan, Michael, and Trisha. We will work on this song right after warm-ups on February 7th. Trisha will be gone, but this song is mostly a duet between Nick & Evan anyway, so we'll still run through it a few times.
A CHANGE:
Whenever the song goes: "As a father-in-law..." we're always going to sing, "Do I wanna be rich or poor?" Sometimes it's written: "Do you wanna be rich or poor?" We will simplify things by having it always be "I". We will do this for the reprise, too. (That's on page 44 in your script. Trisha does not sing the reprise, and Henry gets added instead.)
I talk for a little bit at the beginning of the video. Most of that instruction is for Nick, since he gets the parts with the tricky timing, but I'd still like for all four of you to watch the entire video--just so you know what's going on.
If you have any questions or comments, write them below or send me an email.
Thanks!

Now It Falls ~ Alto Part
This video is for Georgi, Michelle, and all of the other ladies who are on stage during this song: Lily, Lucy, Polly, Sally, Genevieve, Stella, Bessie, Lottie, Peggy, Jo, Beatrice, Elizabeth, Cordelia, Camellia. (Kathryn and Ann leave the stage before the song begins.)
The reason this video concerns all of you ladies, is that you'll be joining in on "Now It Falls" for the last chorus. You will sing these lines (along with Barnes & Gilbody) right before Stella's spoken line:
"We built it up, through the years,
Built it up, sweat and tears.
Built it up, we did it all, we built it up.
But now it falls." (end of song)
The first time the chorus is sung, only Barnes & Gilbody are singing.
The following video has an alto focus. That doesn't mean I want all of the ladies to sing alto on that last chorus. I would like for some of you ladies to sing the melody (which you can hear pretty well on the rehearsal CD) and some of you to sing the alto (what you'll hear in this clip). So, go ahead and practice both ways, and I'll let you pick which one you like better. I might need to move one or two of you to a different part, depending on the balance that we have when we try it. Have fun! And let me know if you have any questions.
Edited on February 11th to add:
All of you ladies will be singing BOTH times we do the chorus--not just the last time, as I had originally stated. Thank you!

Chasing Dreams ~ Tenor Part
Hi Ethan! This one's for you. Thanks for being so patient. = )
Sloane, I'm going to have you sing the melody for the entire song--except for the last note. I'll have you sing a third above Ethan there. So, you'll sing an E instead of the C.
Let me know if either of you have any questions--in the comments below or by email.
Thanks!
