Epilogue

There’s this guy from my church named Tom.

Tom was a Marine who served in Vietnam.  When I was thinking about local vets we would be honoring, Tom was who I thought about most often.  He called me a few times before Kilroy, because he wanted to be sure he wouldn’t miss it.  My husband had more extensive discussions with him about the play and about Tom’s service in general, including a long talk on a bench in Walmart about USO clubs stateside as well as USO shows in Vietnam.  Maddi also remembers having a lengthy chat with him at church about the USO, and about how much he was looking forward to the show.

Tom came to the Friday night show and he LOVED it.  He probably visited with some of you in the receiving line – he may have called you ‘Hon’.  Lindsey, he called you a traitor.  J

My husband had another nice talk with him a couple weeks ago, and Tom reiterated how much he liked the play.

I found out this evening that Tom died in a car accident on Tuesday.

Tom was a great guy who loved serving Jesus and who loved serving his country.  He had a strong faith, and is with his Savior right now.  I’m happy for Tom, but I’m going to miss him.

I’m profoundly thankful to each one of you for working so hard and putting on such a great show for all of the vets, but especially for Tom.

Cast Party Sign Up Sheet Found

It was in the lost & found box in my garage.  Here's what it has:

Hot Dishes:  Shuler, Braun
Baked Beans:  Boughton, J. Holbrook
Salads:  Shuler, Reinke, Hintz, Green
Chips: (2 large each):  Schinke, Stuewer, Martin, Kowalkowski
Ketchup & Mustard:  Ritter
Pickles, Relish, Olives, Chopped Onion:  Pedersen
Desserts:  Fuller, Reinke, Bartz, G. Holbrook
Buns:  Kluge (all)

I know that in the comments some people said they'd bring things (Elisabeth Michaels - salads, Greens - Creamer, etc.) as well.

It looks like we could still use a few casseroles, if anyone could bring one of those.

Cast Party! (from Mrs. Holbrook)

Hi all,
I somehow lost the paper we had at CHS for the cast party. I remember a few of the things that were signed up for. Please help me out!!!

Boughtons are bringing baked beans, Ritters are bringing ketchup & mustard, Kersterns a dessert, and that's about all I remember.  As far as I know no one signed up for hot dishes and we should have at least four of them.  We need two people to bring 4 1/2 dz. hamburger buns each, and 2 dz hot dog buns. I know the chips were all taken care of I just don't remember who. I think we still need someone to bring a large jar (like a gallon) of pickle slices, a large jar of olives, & one onion chopped up (the same family should bring all of these). Also, we should have at least 4 salads such as: fruit, mixed lettuce, or some type of veggie salad. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided as well as plates, napkins, table ware, and drinks. Oh, could someone bring half n half or coffee creamer? We'll need a couple of quarts of that. You can come anytime after 2 if your children would like to play soccer or v-ball. We'll plan on eating at 4. I usuallly start a fire in the fire pit for roasting marshmallows, and just hanging out by. You are all welcome to stay as long as you like. Abby, could you bring your sound system?

If you need directions to our house, please let me know. See you all next week!

PS: Cast party is May 10th. (Thursday)

Entire Cast Shout-Outs

Ahhhhh!  I think I'm finally recovering from my post-Kilroy crash! I can't say enough how pleased I am with how well each one of you performed!  You were spectacular!

We had record attendance numbers:  270 on Friday, 255 on Saturday, 331 on Sunday for a total of 856!  All of the numbers aren't in, yet, but we also had a record amount of donations.  WooHoo!

Now, for the cast shout-outs:

From Anonymous:  "Great Job!"
From Elisabeth Michael:  "I want to thank everyone for the wonderful time I've had participating in all the plays.  I'll miss everyone.  You've all been a blessing in my life."
From Amy Martin:  "You have done a wonderful job and glorified God with your talents"
From Nick:  "You guys (and gals) make this so worthwhile.  Thanks!"
From Raphael: "You are the best cast I have ever had"
From Michael Conto: "Everyone - Great Job!"

From Elisabeth Michael to Mrs. Conto:  "I want to thank you for all the hard work you do.  I appreciate it deeply."
I'd like to echo Elisabeth's sentiments - Mrs. Conto is the unsung hero of our group.  I don't think I've ever met a more selfless person.  Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!

Okay, now it's time for me to get on with my life.  Where did all of that laundry come from?  And those weeds!!!!

Again, thank you all!  We'll see you May 10 at the cast party at Mrs. Holbrook's!!!
