After we're done with Slap that Jukebox on Thursday, I'd like to have the Spies song worked on. I think at the same time, maybe we can work with the waltzers in We'll Meet Again. After that, I'd like to see how Don't Say No to the USO is looking. If there's any time (or energy) after that, we'll go over Never Gonna Give Up.
Be sure to bring your water bottles and wear comfortable shoes! (It's okay if you don't wear your costume shoes this week, or if you wear them and also bring a different pair of shoes for all of the dancing.)

Ad & Costume Deadline!!
Just a reminder that your ads are due this Thursday, March 1! Please be prepared to hand in your money and artwork/business cards to Mrs. Schinke or Mrs. Pedersen at play practice.
Also, hopefully you've all discussed your costumes with Mrs. Conto. Please wear what you've got to play practice this week. It's always so much fun to see what everyone is wearing for their roles. I'm looking forward to seeing you all in your get-ups!

We Need Your Bios!!!
Here's the information that everyone should have received in their folders regarding their bios. If you don't have this sheet in your folder and need Bethany's email, mention it in the comments and I'll make sure you get it.
It’s time to get your bios together for the program. Please,
please, please check over the bios from last year’s program. They look terrific and should give you an
idea of what works in the program. While
you don’t need these, because there are so many excellent examples in the
program, I took the liberty of creating a few mock bios to give you an
idea.
Bios should be 3-4 sentences,
typed up and emailed to Bethany B. at the address in your folder
(preferred). If you’re unable to email them, you may
deliver them to me at play practice. DEADLINE – MARCH 8!
Petunia Plumpmuffin
(Granny) is 14 and has been in three other musicals. Beverly Hillbillies – The Musical*, is her
favorite, because she feels she and Granny are kindred spirits. Petunia enjoys reading, making lye soap,
spending time with her friends, and hanging out by ‘the cement pond’ in the
summer.
Milton Millipede
(Chester Marcol) is 16 and thrilled to be involved in After the Glory Years.** In his
spare time, Milton enjoys watching the Packers, analyzing Packer statistics
(including devising what he feels is a superior quarterback rating system), organizing
and participating in a football league
for area homeschoolers, and snorkeling.
*Yes, there actually is a musical version of The Beverly
Hillbillies out there. (I don’t think it
would work for our group, though J )
**Sadly, there isn’t a Packers musical called ‘After the
Glory Years’. (At least not yet!) Once I did attend a performance of
‘Cheeseheads in Paradise’, though J.

Today in History for World War II

Tiny Tappers Choreography (Take 2)
Tiny Tappers, here's a different dance video for you. (It's a little loud, so you may want to turn down your speakers.) Miss Lindsey let me make a video with me standing behind her, like you do when she's teaching you at play practice. Hopefully, this will help you with your rights and lefts a little more. It can be confusing sometimes, can't it? It's confusing for me anyway, and I'm a grown-up! = )
Of course, Miss Lindsey can't do all seven parts at the very end, so practice your own kneeling or standing part with your arms in the right direction, okay? Like this:

Script Frenzy!
I know that everyone's April is going to be jam-packed with play rehearsals and performances (Yay!), but I couldn't resist passing this on. In case anyone is interested, April is also Script Frenzy month! It encourages young writers to set a page per day goal and write a complete script during the month of April. If anyone is interested, you can find more information here: http://ywp.scriptfrenzy.org/whatis
Wear Your Kilroy T-Shirts!
Just a reminder that we're planning on taking our cast photo tomorrow, so wear your shirts! We'll plan on taking the picture later in the rehearsal, depending on how long our photographer will be able to stay.

For February 23rd
Everyone: We'll be adding "Battle Hymn of the Republic" to our warm-ups--just the first verse and refrain for now, but we may add another verse later. So, feel free to brush up on this, okay?
"Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord,
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword--
His truth is marching on.
Glory! Glory, hallelujah! Glory! Glory, hallelujah!
Glory! Glory, hallelujah! His truth is marching on!"
We'll be going over Scene 29, beginning with vocal work on "Hey America, What's Cookin'?" Here are the characters in Scene 29: Taylor sisters, Riveters, all Hostesses, Edith, Edna, Lucy, Mrs. Wilcox, Mrs. King, Pamela Skipworth, Vida Curtis, Marion Gilford, Rita Steward, Tallulah Tapper & Tiny Tappers, Hugo Harmony & Harmony Brothers, Male Government Agents, Carl, Leo, Floyd, Fred, Jack, Kitty, Prof. Sullivan, Angie, and Kilroy. All of you sing this song except for Kilroy who comes in at the end of the song. Also, Angie comes in sometime during the song. The words and notes aren't too tricky for this song, but the rhythm is. Please practice this several times before Thursday afternoon. Thanks!
Following vocal work, we'll be working on Scene 29 staging, but no choreography yet.* We can look forward to that on March 15th. Taylor sisters, your lines carry this scene, so please know them well (page 50).
After a short break, we'll work on Scene 30. All of the Scene 29 characters are in Scene 30, plus the Female Government Agents, and Western Union Messenger. There are lots of lines here. Make sure you know your line and the line before yours, so you know when to say what.
When Scene 30 is done, it's time for Miss Lindsey to work with the Tiny Tappers. Don't forget your tap shoes, girls! = )
If you need help with vocals on anything, please ask Mrs. Green.
- Mrs. Green
* Scene 29 probably won't take as much time as scheduled to work on. We may end up pushing everything up, and leaving extra time at the end for the Tiny Tappers to practice

We'll Meet Again Dancing
This is the full song of "We'll Meet Again".
Here is sort of a panoramic view of "We'll Meet Again",
but only the last half of the song.
Tiny Tappers Choreography
This post is for : Grace, Lydia B, Lydia G, Megan, Charli, Mary, & Caroline.
Lindsey! I love this dance! It's absolutely perfect. = )
Question: Do you want the girls circling in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction? Or does it matter?
From Miss Lindsey:
"Great job girls! Just one thing: when I said 'heel, heel' for the drum roll, I meant to say, 'toe, toe'. I didn't give them a direction for the turn, but I think counterclockwise would look good if they can remember that. See y'all next week, Tiny Tappers :)."

"Spies" Harmony with CD
This video is for Coulter, Raphael, Trisha, Micayla, Allie, and Michelle.
Most of this video applies to the Government Agents, but at about the 3:00 mark, there's that little part for the evil spies, "Yes we will overcome." I've played the harmony part for Allie & Michelle there, in case you'd like to do that. If the three of you evil spies want to sing in unison there, that's okay with me too. Either way. Please sing harmony at the end though, where it goes, "Because we're spies."

(In the video, I accidentally say "Erin" instead of "Micayla". Sorry about that!
Also, please ignore Samuel's screams for me in the background.
He didn't know I was taping. *rolls eyes*)
Reminders, Etc.
In case anyone was wondering why I had told you all to check the blog and then didn't post anything, I had planned on making a post, more of a general policies nature, but then decided to take a different direction on that particular issue. Sorry if I confused anyone.
Just a couple reminders:
Keep working on selling your ads. I've been hearing some great reports (Terrific job, Steven H. & Brittney!), so I hope everyone is having as much luck. We do need to keep the money coming in, because we've had some big ticket bills lately.
Tiny Tappers - bring your tap shoes to class tomorrow (Feb. 16)
Harmony Brothers - bring your harmonicas
Big work day tomorrow - Scenes 25, 26, 27 & 28, plus extra work on vocals!
See you tomorrow!!

For Elena & Georgi
Hi ladies! Welcome! We're so glad you can join us for Kilroy Was Here!
These are your scenes:
1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31
(Mrs. Stuewer may have told you that already, but I thought it'd be nice for you to have everything in one place here.)
Songs:
There are some notes here regarding Don't Say No, Jitterbug Saturday Night, and Together We Must Stand. I was encouraging cast members to write little notes in their scripts, so that's what this is about.
At the end of Don't Say No, the last note is in three part harmony. The melody (soprano) is easy to hear on the Vocal Accompaniment CD, so I made a vocal video of the last line for the middle note (alto) here. The alto for Together We Must Stand is in this same link, btw. The tenor note (low note) for Don't Say No and Together We Must Stand can be found here. You may choose which note (high, middle, low) you'd like to sing for these. I think it's pretty balanced right now, so I don't think it matters what you choose. Also, there is a Chorus 1 ("We are one") and Chorus 2 ("My country 'tis of thee") for Together We Must Stand. Let me know which you'd rather do, okay?
There are several choreography videos for Don't Say No. You might need to ask Lindsey or one of the hostesses to help you figure out which zone you're in.
Don't Say No to the USO Videos --this is one blog post with choreography.
These videos were made in Lindsey's basement. They cover the musical interlude part of the song. I think you're Zone 4, but check with Lindsey to be sure.
I don't think we have any videos for the last part of Don't Say No. Sorry....
Here is my weak attempt at choreography for Together We Must Stand. ; ) I didn't do this right in the video, but your left hand should face backward (on "States"), so you can easily grab your neighbor's hand. When it gets to the Chorus 1/Chorus 2 part, both of you will put your hands on your hearts. The servicemen/women and the government agents are the only ones who'll salute.
You were there for the choreography for Jitterbug Saturday Night, so I won't link it here. It's in the post before this one. There aren't any vocal videos. There are only the script notes in the very first link.
Slap That Jukebox vocals are here. Towards the end of the song, we sing in four part harmony on the word "long". Pick what you like. We haven't done choreography for this one yet. That'll happen on March 1st.
Never Gonna Give Up is likely our trickiest song. It's in three part harmony; it's FAST; and it has lots of accidentals (notes which sound like they don't belong). I made vocal videos for each part at half speed here. I think we're going to work on these vocals a little more on the 16th, so if you could take time to choose which part you'd like (1st soprano, 2nd soprano, or alto) and work on it a little before Thursday, that'd be great. Again, I think we're pretty balanced, so choose what you'd like. Once you've learned the notes at half speed, then go here for the full speed version with the CD playing in the background. Bailey & Bethany have graciously made these videos for me, since there's no way I can play that fast. Yet. ; )
Here is the choreography for Never Gonna Give Up. You'll have to ask Maddi if you're a right person or left person. My guess is that one of you will be right, and one of you will bewrong left. (Sorry...bad joke.)
And here are the vocal videos for We'll Meet Again. There's three part harmony on the last note, which you probably figured out from rehearsal on Thursday. If you haven't picked a note already, then go ahead and do so now. We don't have choreography for this one yet. I think that'll happen on the 16th.
You'll also sing Hey, America, What's Cookin. This one is all in unison, so I won't be making any videos. The rhythms are a bit tricky though. Just practice along with your vocal CD (assuming you have one). We'll be working on this song on Feb. 23rd.
The Finale (Scene 31) is basically the same as Don't Say No, except it has a longer musical interlude plus "America" in the middle. The Choral Finale (also in Scene 31) is the last bit of Together We Must Stand.
WHEW! Okay. I know that's a lot, but if anyone can do it, you can. If you have any questions, just let me know.

Jitterbug Saturday Night Choreography with Bonus Spies Video!
Sorry about the sideways-ness of this one.
I think jitterbuggers don't really "cut a rug"--too much friction!
It should be "cut a hard floor".
(It'll work great when we do it on the high school stage.
You were great sports today!)
Great job, Lindsey & Christian!!!
